Drawstring Jewelry Pouch

πŸ‚Something I've seen floating around social media that I've rather liked is a drawstring jewelry pouch. It just consists of two self-lined circles and the stitching creates the pockets and drawstring casing. Very easy, but you really need to double-check measurements for symmetry. Also, I loved the combination of cottons I used, but I think the drawstring would work more smoothly with a softer, more drape-y fabric. I used sassycassysewing's pattern on Etsy Very straight forward and easy to follow. I did add finishing to the drawstring hole using a handsewn buttonhole stitch just because I felt the fabric was  likely to fray if left raw after some use.πŸƒ

A Pillowcase Dress Fit for A Princess

🌷Between larger, more complicated pieces, I like to squeeze in some easy, no-brain-necessary projects and one of those I've done recently is the classic pillowcase dress. A good friend of mine recently passed on a box of linens to me to use as I saw fit. A pair of two old pillowcases with hand embroidery and pink crocheted edges caught my eye, and they seemed to fit the bill for pillowcase dresses. I'm still working on getting a stain out of one, but I went ahead and turned the other into a dress. I used the Pillowcase Dress Pattern from Scattered Thoughts Blog. Very easy directions and process. All I had to do was cut out the armholes and finish the neckline casing for the ribbon and the armhole edges.🌷

Studio Ghibli Onesie

🌻There's no denying I am a huge fan of Studio Ghibli. The art, the storytelling, all of it. So, when my sister came to me with a custom request w/ Ghibli fabric from a co-worker of hers, I was ecstatic. She wanted a pajama set for her baby when he gets a little bigger and can fit into a 2T. The fabric was not off the bolt, but cut and frankenstein-ed from 2 toddler Ghibli t-shirts, so there wasn't enough from those alone to make the complete set. I took the opportunity to try some color blocking, using a pattern from ElemenoPatterns on Etsy. Found the grey ribbed knit at Hobby Lobby. Pattern was easy to follow except the part about the zipper guard. I also ended up using some of the gray knit to patch in the missing notches on the back of the set where I went ahead and took the sleeves out of one of the shirts to still use as the sleeves in the final product.🌻

The original plan.

The great achievement of getting that zipper in. I was a little scared of it beforehand. πŸ˜†πŸ˜…
